White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt faced a series of burning questions on Tuesday from those gathered in the briefing room.
What is President Trump’s favorite order at McDonald’s? What is the president’s favorite ice cream? Who is his favorite president, besides himself?
The White House hosted the children of journalists and staffers in the building for Take Our Sons and Daughters to Work Day. First lady Melania Trump interacted with children in the Rose Garden who were doing arts and crafts, and Leavitt hosted a briefing for kids where they got to ask questions about the president.
“How many people has he fired?” one child asked.
Leavitt responded with a laugh that one person left their job, but so far, the staff is working together well.
The press secretary told another questioner that Trump “loves McDonald’s hamburgers and French fries.”
Asked what his favorite ice cream is, Leavitt told the kids that she’s seen Trump eat ice cream sundaes with chocolate sauce.
Leavitt told a child who asked what superpower the president would choose to have that he would want to be able to “just snap his fingers and solve all of our country’s problems just like that. But sometimes it takes a little longer.”
“Who is Donald Trump’s favorite president, besides himself?” asked one kid.
“I think that perhaps he would say George Washington,” Leavitt said, joking that Trump would probably say himself otherwise.
Leavitt, who gave birth to her first child last summer, was asked what it’s like balancing her job with being a new mom. She noted that her baby was in the building along with her mom.
“It is a challenge every day. But it’s also a blessing to have this opportunity and to be a mom,” Leavitt said. “So, you have to learn how to prioritize your time.”
