NASA and SpaceX will launch the Crew-10 mission to retrieve astronauts Suni Williams and Butch Wilmore from the International Space Station on Wednesday evening.
Williams and Wilmore, part of last year’s Boeing Starliner mission that was meant to only last eight to 10 days, have been docked on the space station since June. The initial launch was delayed several times due to thruster failures and helium leaks, and the capsule returned to Earth without its crew in September.
The return was originally scheduled for February, but NASA pushed the date back to early March. The agency said the timeline change allowed its teams to “complete processing” on a new spacecraft for the mission.
The mission comes as President Trump has leaned on SpaceX owner Elon Musk, a key White House adviser, to bring the astronauts home.
The Crew-10 launch is expected to take place at 7:48 p.m. EDT.
