Stephen Colbert Nails Trump's Most Bafflingly Weird Claim Yet

“Late Show” host Stephen Colbert pointed to one big problem with President Donald Trump’s claim that he’s made 200 trade deals so far: There are only 195 countries to make deals with.

“No one’s buying that!” Colbert said, and then broke out his Trump impression to explain the five “bonus” countries the president must’ve made deals with.

“It’s true, that’s the art of the deal,” Colbert said as Trump. “I made deals with Wakanda, Narnia, McDonald’s Playland, East Korea, and I drove a very hard bargain with the princess of Genovia. Tough gal, tough lady. Used to be a homely teenager in San Francisco, but Queen Mary Poppins got her all gussied up.”

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent told ABC’s Martha Raddatz that Trump was likely referring to “sub deals within the negotiations” but did not elaborate.

Colbert this time broke out a Bessent impression.

“He has so many sub deals,” Colbert said as Bessent. “This man is getting $5 footlongs at Subway. Martha, he’s getting chips and drinks at Jersey Mike’s, and he’s just taken a very high-level call with Blimpie’s.”
