Rock legend Neil Young ― a fierce critic of President Donald Trump ― on Tuesday voiced fears that he may not be allowed to reenter the United States after his upcoming European tour.
On his official website, the Canadian-born musician ― who in 2020 became a dual Canadian-American citizen ― shared his concern of being detained on his return to the U.S. amid reports that some people critical of Trump have been denied entry into the country.
“When I go to play music in Europe, if I talk about Donald J. Trump, I may be one of those returning to America who is barred or put in jail to sleep on a cement floor with an aluminum blanket,” he wrote. “That is happening all the time now. Countries have new advice for those returning to America.”
Young continued: “If I come back from Europe and am barred, can’t play my USA tour, all of the folks who bought tickets will not be able to come to a concert by me.”
“If the fact that I think Donald Trump is the worst president in the history of our great country could stop me from coming back, what does that say for Freedom?” he asked.
Young also slammed Trump’s apparent targeting of opponents as “spineless” and suggested the president is unable “to stand up to anyone who does not agree with his ideas.”

The musician is set to tour across Europe in June and July.
Stops are scheduled in Norway, Denmark, Ireland, the Netherlands, Germany, the United Kingdom and France. He’s slated to return to the U.S. for a concert in Charlotte, North Carolina, on Aug. 8.
Young has been a longtime critic of Trump.
In 2020, he sued Trump’s reelection campaign for repeatedly using his songs — including “Rockin’ in the Free World” and “Devil’s Sidewalk” — at campaign events, without permission.
Young later sarcastically suggested Trump play another of his tracks, “Lookin’ for a Leader,” which he’d reworked to directly criticize the president.

When a wildfire destroyed Young’s Malibu home in 2018, the singer slammed climate change-denying Trump as a “so-called president” who “cares more for his own, convenient opinion than he does for the people he leads.”
