Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene’s five-year battle with the antagonistic and dismissive Washington press corps reached new heights this week when the Georgia Republican said media lies have helped to destroy its credibility in America.
In a clash with a reporter over President Donald Trump’s pardoning of those convicted in the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol riots, Greene said that the media has lost connection with what the public cares about in its effort to smear her and the president.
“This insane place up here, and all of y’all’s obsession with Jan. 6 is absurd. Everybody outside of here is f***ing tired of it,” Greene said in an impromptu Capitol interview posted on X.
“I’ve seen all the Democrat-run networks ad nauseam about Jan. 6, and they just can’t get over themselves. But they don’t give a sh*t about real Americans,” she said.
The lawmaker added, “They’re tired of the hypocrisy up here, and they hate the media right now. They do. I’m serious. You guys have created a situation where you’re not trusted, and people are sick of you, and it’s sad. I’m serious; it’s sad.”

Greene has been under fire from liberal reporters ever since she ran for office in 2020. A successful businesswoman who connected with voters, she was instead decried for online mentions of right-wing conspiracy theories. Once elected, Democrats wouldn’t even let her on any committees.
But she became a vocal supporter of Trump and MAGA, used the media’s obsession with her to push controversial positions that Trump endorsed, and not only won in reelection runaways but was talked about as a potential Trump running mate.
She has been rewarded with the chairmanship of the House DOGE subcommittee and is considered the leader of the MAGA wing of the House GOP.
As a result, she has attracted even more media attention, and this week, the focus was on her reaction to the Jan. 6 pardons, which Greene has demanded for years.
But when she faced a question about giving pardoned protesters tours, she blew up.
“Are you going to talk about the Biden family that got pardoned? No? OK, what about the rapists and killers and murderers that Joe Biden pardoned? There’s tons of them,” she said to a reporter that Mediate identified as a Punchbowl News reporter.
The reporter said that she “assumed” Greene would join other lawmakers in giving tours, which became the flashpoint with the congresswoman.
“You’re assuming,” Greene said. “You know, the problem is you people never gave me a fair shot to begin with, with all these assumptions and all these headlines and all these lies.”
“Why don’t you do a story on what people care about? People care about the border, the economy, energy. They’re sick and tired of the foreign wars,” she added before turning away.

Greene continued later, posting on X, “After 4 yrs, I’m fed up with Washington DC press. Your assumptions are ignorant and you are absolutely disconnected and clueless about what is important in life and to Americans. You have destroyed your credibility. With social media like X, you can’t lie about me anymore.”
Social media influencer Paul A. Szypula said on X, ‘Good for you MTG. Don’t take cr*p from these legacy media Democrat activists anymore.”
