Far-right Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) raised eyebrows on Wednesday when she claimed to be “proud” of voting for Donald Trump’s flagship, so-called “big, beautiful” spending bill ― just a day after expressing regret for backing it.
Rep. Robert Garcia (D-Calif.) asked the Trump loyalist to confirm her misgivings on the legislation during a House subcommittee hearing.
Greene deflected and replied: “The bill actually destroys what you guys voted for for the past four years. And I’m proud to have voted for that bill to fund border security to deport all these illegals you guys let in the country.”
Garcia quickly reminded Greene: “Actually … yesterday you actually said that you regret actually voting for the bill.”
The Georgia Republican slammed a measure blocking states from regulating artificial intelligence for the next 10 years.
“I am adamantly OPPOSED to this and it is a violation of state rights and I would have voted NO if I had known this was in there,” she wrote on social media.
