Iconic Director Trashes Trump With Muffled Cannes Mic-Drop

The name went unspoken, but the target was clear.

Movie director Spike Lee slammed Donald Trump at Cannes on Tuesday — without explicitly saying the president’s name.

While promoting his new neo-noir crime thriller “Highest 2 Lowest,” longtime Trump critic Lee was asked if he thought social media is now compromising American values.

“Well, I mean, I don’t know how much we can talk about American values considering who’s the president of the…,” he replied, before covering his mouth to muffle his critical comments.

“My wife said: ‘Spike, be very careful what you say!’” he joked.

Lee added: “But here’s the thing, I don’t think that we can condemn social media. You can say the same thing about film, movies or whatever. So I’m not going to demonize the form.”

Trump has been frequently referred to as “Agent Orange” by Lee.

The filmmaker has previously argued that not even disgraced former President Richard Nixon “did the stuff” that Trump is now doing and has drawn damning comparisons between Trump and Nazi German dictator Adolf Hitler.
