President Trump’s Cabinet met at the White House Wednesday to detail a number of high-streaks during its first 100 days in office of the president’s second-term.
Rallying supporters Tuesday in Michigan, he said they haven’t “seen anything yet,” while he further defended his policies in an interview with ABC News that aired after the rally.
On Wednesday, Trump further marked the milestone with a full Cabinet meeting. Later he will deliver remarks at an “Investing in America” event and participate in NewsNation’s “Cuomo Town Hall” at 8 p.m. EDT.
On Capitol Hill, three House committees will examine how to push Trump’s agenda forward, and GOP leaders are expected to hold key meetings with skeptics in their party. House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.) and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.), among other Democrats, are set to weigh in on the president’s impact so far in several speeches.
The 100th day coincided with economic news. The first-quarter GDP data released early Wednesday by the Commerce Department showed the economy shrank as a surge of imports ahead of Trump’s tariffs took a bite out of economic growth calculations. Meanwhile, The personal consumption expenditures (PCE) price index held steady from February to March while dropping to an annual increase of 2.3 percent from 2.7 percent in February, Commerce reported.
The president, however, insisted Wednesday morning that the economy is former President Biden’s and urged people to “be patient.”
As he passes the 100-day benchmark, polls show Trump has lost popularity, raising eyebrows for Republicans starting to look toward the 2026 midterms.
