During a rambling, lengthy speech at the National Republican Congressional Committee Dinner in Washington, D.C., Trump claimed that Republicans will actually benefit from the situation come the 2026 midterm elections.
“We’re going to win the midterm elections and we’re going to have a tremendous, thundering landslide. I really believe that,” Trump said.
Trump has admitted there will be economic pain caused by the upheaval but has insisted it will be good for America in the end.
“I really think we’re helped a lot by the tariffs situation that’s going on, which is a good situation, not a bad, it’s great, it’s going to be legendary, you watch. Legendary in a positive way, I have to say. It’s going to be legendary,” Trump said.
Despite the president’s “positive” emphasis on the word “legendary,” critics on social media begged to differ and suggested the comments could come back to haunt Trump and the GOP next year.
